![]() ![]() Other people we spoke to enjoyed their experience (they went on a different night). Probably wouldn’t recommend it unless the conditions are just right. Situated along the Northcoast of Jamaica, and located in beautiful Famouth, Glistening Waters Luminous Lagoon is known around the world as Jamaicas only night-time attraction Come out and experience what nature has to show you at this remarkable spot, where you will witness a phenomenon that only occurs in certain parts of the world. It was $56 US per person, a good hour bus ride from our hotel. Once we returned to the dock we were given complementary rum punch and escorted to a performance area where we watched a limbo/fire dancer. They brought a bucket of water onto the boat so we could stick our hands in and swish them around to see it "glow". Nothing spectacular until he used the filters and the organisms showed up bright blue (not quite what we saw). The area has plenty to choose from with 2,391 lodging options including hotels and vacation rentals. Mangos Jamaica is another well-reviewed guesthouse and is 19 minutes away on foot. ![]() There was a photographer on the boat taking picture for those that were in the water, and he showed us the pictures on his camera. Glistening Waters Hotel is a 4.5-star guesthouse near Luminous Lagoon with good guest reviews. If the water would have been clearer, then I maybe would have tried it, but I just couldn’t make myself get in. Apparently the water is really shallow (only 4 feet deep), and the bottom is spongy/muddy. I have an issue with strange water, so I didn’t know if I’d be able to actually get in, and that definitely didn’t happen! It was a full moon the night we went, so it was hard to see the water glowing (and some of the kids were stepping on the bottom which stirred things up and made it hard to see). We decided to book the “Luminous Lagoon” tour. We’ve been to Ocho Rios before and had already been to Dunn’s River Falls and Discovery Cove, so we didn’t feel the need to do them again.
